App Development Update (New Years!)

The primary reason I decided to wind down my web design business and focus on app development was my son George, and the unpredictable schedule that comes with caring for him.

I suppose the positive spin here is that the plan worked. The less positive part is that everything is delayed.

George is struggling immensely at the moment. His school hours have been reduced to just two hours a day, and during those two hours I sit in the school car park in case there is an emergency. As a result, development on these apps has ground to a halt. Temporarily, but still very much halted.

Christmas is a huge trigger for George, so for the past month it has really been a case of dropping everything else and focusing on him. Because the apps are still in the design phase, I was comfortable pressing pause for a while. They were never meant to be rushed.

And if I am being honest, ever the optimist, I am also quite pleased.

When I started building these apps back in October, the plan was deliberately relaxed. They would be ready when they were right. Then my adorable wife cheerfully pointed out how cool it would be if they launched for the whole “new year, new me” moment, and suddenly I was working to a tight deadline.

I made huge progress, and I almost got there.

But when George’s little world came crashing down, it was hard and traumatic. It also came with an unexpected silver lining. A sense of relief that I could let go of the artificial deadline and go back to building things properly, carefully, and without pressure.

So this is really just an update to say that an update is coming.

With Christmas behind us, I will slowly restart development, and I will keep this blog updated as things move forward.
